We recently changed vets to Briar Dawn and have been massively impressed with their care. Everyone at the clinic is friendly and kind. The compassion shown to us at a very difficult time couldn’t be appreciated more. They have a genuine care for your pets and are excellent clinicians.

My cats have been treated at Briar Dawn for 17 years. I was particularly impressed with the care that Posi received on a recent visit. The vet was professional, thorough, patient and kind. She suggested various levels of treatment and showed me how to administer the chosen ear drops. Posi is now getting back to being herself thankfully.

I was pretty much forced into finding an alternative vet following the closure of the vets on Shaw High Street some years ago now. I went without a vets after that having had a few negative experiences, Shaw vets changed that but, as stated they closed. I read reviews for this vets and felt that it seemed very good. I nearly had heart failure at the cost of a consultation £62 !!! Wow, I thought, they must be excellent. I took my elderly dog for an old girl check, eyes, ears, bones, legs etc. I wanted to know if I was doing the best for her. I don't know who I saw but the lady spent the entire consultation trying to get me to spend just £600 on dentistry!!! I had not gone for her teeth. When she realised that I was trying to veer the consultation back, she said if I joined a pet plan it would only be £300, phew, that's okay then. I said, my dog is old and you are saying she would be under anaesthetic for 2 hours, yes she said. I asked was that not an extremely long time for an elderly dog to be under, yes she said and occasionally some don't make it!!!! Hello, I didn't go for that, I went for a well check. Another negative money orientated vet in my opinion. I'm struggling with the reviews as well, I'm wondering if some are paid for or even AI now. I would not recommend this vet. I'm sorry. I've had to seek alternative holistic advice for my old baby... My condolences to the lady with the Frenchie...

I recently attended my first appointment at this practice, and I am extremely disappointed with the service I received. I spent £60 to be spoken down to, argued with, and completely dismissed regarding my dog’s care. My dog, a French Bulldog, suffers from allergies — particularly to vegetables — and after extensive trial and error with different diets including Royal Canin, AVA, and others, I have carefully transitioned her onto a raw diet which has significantly improved her health. Instead of being listened to or offered supportive advice, I was immediately told I was feeding her incorrectly and criticised for my choices. I was also wrongly told I had not properly completed a food trial, despite the fact that I have monitored her reactions to multiple diets over time. Rather than focusing on my dog’s actual health and wellbeing, the practitioner pushed a commercial food brand without considering my dog’s specific allergy needs. For a first visit, I find this level of disregard, lack of professionalism, and poor customer care absolutely shocking. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this practice to anyone seeking informed, respectful veterinary care tailored to their pet’s individual needs.
